Ingredients

  • 1 can 8 count refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup strawberry jam or preserves
  • Oil for frying vegetable or canola works best
  • Optional: Extra powdered sugar for dusting graham cracker crumbs, or fresh strawberries for garnish

Method

  1. Prepare the filling: In a small mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  2. Heat the oil: In a deep skillet or Dutch oven, heat 2–3 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure proper temperature.
  3. Prepare the biscuits: Separate the biscuit dough and slightly flatten each round. Place about 1 teaspoon of the cheesecake filling in the center, then seal the edges tightly, rolling into a smooth ball to enclose the filling. Repeat with all biscuits.
  4. Fry the donuts: Carefully drop each filled dough ball into the hot oil, frying 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  5. Fill and top: Once slightly cooled, make a small slit in the side of each donut and spoon in strawberry jam. For an extra touch, spread some jam on top, sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs, and garnish with a fresh strawberry.
  6. Serve: Dust with powdered sugar if desired and enjoy warm.

Notes

  • Active time: 15 minutes (filling and assembly)
  • Passive time: 10 minutes (frying and cooling)
  • Be sure to seal the dough tightly so the filling doesn’t leak during frying.
  • If you prefer baking, you can bake at 375°F for 12–14 minutes, though the texture will be more like a filled biscuit than a donut.
