Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter softened
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ teaspoon dried marjoram
  • ¼ teaspoon dried basil
  • ¼ teaspoon fines herbs
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon dried parsley or to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 loaf unsliced Italian bread

Method

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Make the Garlic Butter: In a small mixing bowl, combine softened butter, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, marjoram, basil, fines herbs, oregano, parsley, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  3. Prepare the Bread: Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise, creating two long halves. Place them cut-side up on the baking sheet.
  4. Spread Generously: Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread, making sure to cover the entire surface.
  5. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the bread is warmed through and lightly golden around the edges.
  6. Optional Broil: For extra crispiness, switch the oven to broil and cook for 1–2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  7. Slice and Serve: Cut into thick slices and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for the best flavor—pre-minced garlic in jars doesn’t pack the same punch.
  • For an ultra-rich version, add a drizzle of olive oil to the butter mixture.
  • If you prefer a softer garlic bread, wrap the loaf in foil before baking. This traps the steam and keeps the bread tender.
