Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb pepperoni
  • 1/4 lb thin salami
  • 1/2 lb deli ham
  • 1 package provolone cheese slices
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/3 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter melted
  • 2 13.8 oz cans refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoncini peppers
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Black food coloring optional, for dramatic effect
  • 2 candy eyes googly eyes, or small toy eyeballs (for decoration only)
  • Marinara or pizza sauce for dipping

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out one can of pizza dough into a rectangle. Layer half the meats and cheeses down the center. Sprinkle with half the pepperoncini, seasonings, and a drizzle of butter.
  3. Roll out the second can of dough. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice strips along both long sides, leaving the center intact.
  4. Layer the remaining meats and cheeses in the center. Sprinkle with parmesan and the rest of the seasonings.
  5. Fold the strips of dough over the filling in a crisscross pattern to resemble mummy bandages. Tuck ends underneath.
  6. Brush with melted butter (tinted with black food coloring if desired).
  7. Bake for 25–28 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove from oven and place candy or toy eyeballs near the top of the loaf.
  9. Let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Active prep: about 20 minutes (layering and wrapping).
  • Baking time: 25–28 minutes.
  • For crispier “bandages,” bake on a wire rack over a sheet pan.
  • If using toy eyes, be sure to remove before serving slices.
